Changing Lives Through Theatre: Smashed in Venezuela

In this blog, we are thrilled to shine a spotlight on our incredible partners in Venezuela, Dividendo Voluntario para la Comunidad.

Established in 1964, Dividendo Voluntario para la Comunidad (DVC) is a non-profit organization that channels private sector efforts into community development projects across Venezuela.

DVC’s mission is to integrate private initiatives and add value to corporate social responsibility processes, in alliance with social development organisations, authorities, and communities, to promote actions that improve the quality of life in Venezuela.

Beyond the collaboration with Smashed, DVC runs several impactful programs across Venezuela:

  • Nutrition and Food Assistance: Operating community kitchens that provide meals to children in need.
  • Education Initiatives: Offering educational programs and resources to underprivileged communities.
  • Emergency Relief: Mobilizing resources and volunteers to assist communities affected by natural disasters.

DVC are a part of the United Way global solidarity network, an organisation present in 40 countries that aims to improve the living conditions of people in different regions of the world, which brings together more than 2 m volunteers in social responsibility activities.

¡Juntos podemos hacer más! – Together, we can do more!

Delivering Smashed in Venezuela has been a powerful example of what strong local partnerships can achieve. Working closely with our regional partners at the CAPLAB and Dividendo Voluntario para la Comunidad, the programme has been adapted to the local context to ensure it resonates with young people, educators, and communities. Through carefully planned coordination with schools and local stakeholders, Smashed has been able to reach students in a safe, engaging, and culturally relevant way.

At the heart of Smashed Venezuela are live theatre performances and interactive workshops that spark conversation and critical thinking around underage drinking. By combining creativity with evidence-based education, the programme encourages students to reflect on peer pressure, decision-making, and personal responsibility.

Reaching over 100,000 students is more than just a number; it’s a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of everyone involved in the Smashed (En Serio) Venezuela program. Through engaging live theatre performances and interactive workshops, we’ve been able to educate young people about the risks associated with underage drinking, empowering them to make informed decisions.

Looking Ahead

As we celebrate this partnership, we remain committed to expanding our reach and continuing to educate and empower youth across Venezuela. With partners like DVC, we are confident in our ability to make a lasting difference.
